Ruby Rees-Sheridan, Assistant Curator of Photographs at the National Portrait Gallery, introduces the Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize. This new exhibition, which comes to Sheffield direct from the National Portrait Gallery, showcases the work of talented yearly career photographers, gifted amateurs and established professionals in the very best of contemporary photography. The competition celebrates a diverse range of images and tells the fascinating stories behind the creation of works, from formal commissioned portraits to more spontaneous and intimate moments capturing friends and family. In this talk you’ll explore some of the exhibitions recurring themes, hear stories behind the selected photographs and get an insight into the judging process for the Prize.
